LOS ANGELES (March 4, 2014) – Entertainment and media union SAG-AFTRA is partnering with South by Southwest (SXSW), the world’s leading music industry event, for a six-hour music showcase on March 11 featuring up-and-coming artists, including Wardell and Hudson.

SAG-AFTRA Sound Recordings and SXSW present The Show at Buffalo Billiards, taking place 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on March 11 at 201 E. 6th St. in Austin, during the annual SXSW Music Festival. The event is for ages 21 and over only.

Though longtime media partners, this is the first time SAG-AFTRA has partnered with SXSW for a music showcase.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with SXSW in 2014 and expand our presence,” said Randall Himes, SAG-AFTRA assistant national executive director, sound recordings. “After years of attending and supporting the many SAG-AFTRA artists that appear at SXSW, this year marks the first time we are hosting our own recording artist showcase. With this event, SAG-AFTRA is now involved in every aspect of the festival, including film, interactive and music.”

Singer/songwriter Dan Navarro, who is also SAG-AFTRA vice president, recording artists, added, “It’s exciting to finally connect the dots and have this new SAG-AFTRA presence at music’s biggest party. As committed as we are to preserving and protecting the livelihoods of our union recording artists, we’re equally committed to the proliferation of the music itself and having a wonderful time. So let’s dance!”
