SAG-AFTRA has reached a tentative agreement with Uptown Productions that covers production of Nickelodeon exhibition programs. The new four-year agreement was reached on May 3 following negotiations that began on December 6, 2016 in Los Angeles.
Highlights of the contract include huge gains in the primary areas of:
- Scale rates
- Residuals
- Terms and conditions for background actors
Wages for principals will go from 70% of current Television Agreement network rates to 100% of such rates through a phase-in over the life of a four-year term. Residuals, previously paid on yearly “exhibition window” basis will now be paid per run via phase in as well over the life of the agreement.
Background actors and Stand-ins will also benefit from the new agreement. These performers will see an increase in rates, overtime pay and work day among others. Other performers that will also benefit include: Stunt performers who will now be provided dressing rooms and Stunt coordinators, who will be added to the pool of performers receiving payment on “distributor gross”-based residuals.
