For its informative and engaging messaging across its platforms during the 2023 TV/Theatrical/Streaming strike, SAG-AFTRA received the top award in the Multichannel Campaign category at the PR Daily 2024 Social Media & Digital Awards on Aug. 1.

Throughout the 118-day strike, SAG-AFTRA’s coverage included photos and slideshows of performers and audiovisual content, including video clips, podcasts and livestream events. Content also prevalently featured well-known union performers such as Pedro Pascal, the cast of Breaking Bad and longtime activists Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. Politicians and other public figures were often featured. Leveraging a variety of platforms and the voices of union members resulted in doubling the followers across all social platforms, over 112,100 press articles and 10.7 billion impressions across 139 countries, which, in turn, contributed significantly to public support, a resolution to the strike and the eventual ratification of the 2023 TV/Theatrical Contracts.

SAG-AFTRA National Director, Communications & Marketing Damon Romine and Social Media Specialist Delaney Howard accepted the award on the union’s behalf.
