Last week, people of Seattle were gripped by a series of horrific and tragic shooting events throughout the city. The SAG-AFTRA Seattle Local, the labor union that represents broadcasters, is proud of the union radio and TV journalists, both in front of and behind the camera or microphone, who were our eyes and ears during those heartbreaking days.
In the chaos and confusion of rapid developments, local TV and radio journalists went to work — deploying to all possible points of activity to get the facts accurately and completely and to communicate with the citizens of Seattle wherever they could receive a TV, radio or WiFi signal. Their reports hopefully brought some peace to those who learned they were likely not in harm’s way, and vital information to those who were still uncertain how they might be affected. All of us benefited from the information that they made available quickly and disseminated widely.
These SAG-AFTRA members perform this vital public service every day, but during those days of anguish for this city they stepped up, they did their jobs superbly, and the SAG-AFTRA Seattle Local salutes them for their service.
