I LOVE Film is an appropriate name for the event that accompanies the El Dorado County Business Showcase held at the El Dorado County fairgrounds every year. Kathleen Dodge, executive director for the El Dorado Lake Tahoe Film & Media Office, inspires those involved in the local film and media industry as well as those embarking on careers in film to gather and share their success stories. Weaving together businesses from all aspects of film, the event affords attendees the chance to meet or reconnect, finding opportunities to work together in the future.
The June 28 showcase featured booths from various organizations throughout El Dorado County that benefit from local film and media production. SAG-AFTRA SF-NC Local President Kathryn Howell and Local Vice President, Actor/Performer Robert Chestnut welcomed attendees to the showcase with details about membership and information on how to hire local talent on projects of any size.
At the subsequent I LOVE Film event, Mark S. Allen hosted a Q&A with guest speaker Dee Dee Escobedo, SF-NC Local assistant executive director. Escobedo spoke to the unique performance each actor brings to a project and how the SAG-AFTRA agreements offer performers protections and value throughout their careers. The day’s events were capped with an award from the California Film Foundation to the SF-NC Local presented by local member Vincent Dee Miles for the Local’s “stellar partnership of over 20 years helping our community of actors thrive.”
