Members of the Dallas-Fort Worth Local held a strike solidarity rally at Reverchon Park on Sept. 9. Over 200 people rallied in support of striking SAG-AFTRA members.
SAG-AFTRA members were joined by members of other local unions, including the WGA, IATSE, the Postal Workers, and several other local unions as well as leaders of the Dallas Labor Council and Young Active Labor Leaders (YALL).
Members spent the morning mingling and enjoying a relatively cool Dallas summer day. Several DFW Local leaders, including Local President Nikki Dixon, addressed the crowd, and we were happy to be joined by special guests Kedrick Brown and Kendrick Sampson from Houston and Los Angeles, who brought the crowd to life with some amazing speeches.
The local press was well represented, and members enjoyed several positive stories in the following days. You can see some of those stories on KERA News, NBCDFW, Dallas Morning News and Deadline.
Stay tuned for more local strike activities from your DFW Local.
