SAG-AFTRA applauds the introduction of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act. We are grateful for the tireless efforts of Sens. Feinstein (D-Calif.), Ernst (R-Iowa), Durbin (D-Ill.), and Murkowski (R-Alaska) to find consensus, and we thank all the Senate cosponsors.
VAWA has been instrumental in improving and enhancing our nation’s duty to safeguarding women and children from abuse, anguish, and violence.
Said SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher, "As a victim of a violent crime myself, I’m grateful that both Democrats and Republicans could come to an agreement on the Violence Against Women Act. Frankly, this is a nonpartisan issue that takes us one step closer towards a more female-friendly society. Until that ultimate goal is achieved with love, honor and respect for ALL as the norm, there will be no rest for the weary."
