SAG-AFTRA statement regarding the recent meeting of the union trustees of the SAG-Producers Pension and Health Plans and the AFTRA H&R Funds:

The SAG-AFTRA trustees of the AFTRA H&R Funds and of the SAG – Producers Pension and Health Plans met together for over four hours on Saturday, August 11.  This meeting took place in accordance with the request of the SAG-AFTRA Board of Directors which overwhelmingly passed a motion at its meeting on July 22 requesting that the union trustees of both Plans meet immediately to discuss the possibility of the implementation of reciprocity agreements between the two plans and the possible mergers of the Plans.

The trustees confirmed that their first priority is the expeditious consideration of a reciprocity agreement between the two plans that will permit the plans to address the growing problem of split earnings that has resulted in the loss of coverage for some plan participants.

SAG-AFTRA Co-President Roberta Reardon, a Trustee on the AFTRA Funds, said, "I'm pleased that we are moving forward and the Union Trustees are working together to develop a common roadmap for how to successfully move through this process. As a participant myself, I'm heartened to see their dedication and commitment to progress on our twin goals."

“The meeting was quite positive,” said David White, SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director, who is a Trustee on the SAG Plans.  “The Trustees of the two plans are building a common understanding on how best to move forward on both fronts, reciprocity and plan merger.  We hope and expect that the management Trustees of both Plans will work together with us in these areas.”
