It’s true: Summer doesn’t last forever. But before the season ends and we settle into fall, check out what the union has been up to in the latest issue of SAG-AFTRA magazine.

The union continues its work in furthering workplace safety and inclusion, and our cover story, “Advancing Workplace Equity,” provides details about our initiatives to address sexual harassment and discrimination in the industry. Learn about ongoing work with intimacy coordinators and the early stages of the newly adopted Diversity Action Plan.

This issue also re-introduces longtime Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel Duncan Crabtree-Ireland in his new role as SAG-AFTRA national executive director and chief negotiator. In a special interview, Crabtree-Ireland reflects on the responsibilities of his new role and outlines his priorities for the organization and its members.

Finally, get the 4-1-1 on the professional dynamics between performers and casting directors from Casting Society of America members. Members of the CSA — former co-presidents Russell Boast and Rich Mento; Boston Casting co-owners and founders Angela Peri and Lisa Lobel; and George Pierre, owner of Pierre Casting in Atlanta — discuss how auditioning can set the foundation for a successful working relationship. They also offer tips to help any performer up their networking game.

All this, plus local and national news updates, advice for utilizing your cellphone’s capabilities, and details about the upcoming national convention can be found in the summer 2021 digital issue. Click here to read now.
