LOS ANGELES — SAG-AFTRA today announced that its Twin Cities Local has joined the Minnesota Film Alliance. The partnership will push for film tax incentives, which can provide a significant boost to Minnesota’s economy by fostering an environment more conducive to film and television work.

“SAG-AFTRA is excited and proud to partner with the Minnesota Film Alliance. We believe both organizations play a vital role in expanding the film industry’s presence in Minnesota and in helping to create and maintain thriving, successful careers for thousands of Minnesotans,” said SAG-AFTRA Twin Cities Local President Peter Moore.

"The Minnesota Film Alliance is thrilled to welcome SAG-AFTRA as a member organization," said Melodie Bahan, founding board member of the Minnesota Film Alliance. "As the advocate for performers in our industry, SAG-AFTRA is a vital partner in our efforts to protect and expand opportunities for Minnesota workers."

The Alliance is pushing for expanded film tax incentives with the potential to create thousands of new job opportunities for actors, set carpenters, drivers, craft services and a host of other related industry professions. The film and television industry has generated billions of dollars in economic growth in several states, including Georgia and New Mexico and the partnership with the Alliance is aiming to do the same with Minnesota.

Local SAG-AFTRA members in Minnesota are encouraged to connect with their state representatives, particularly during meet-and-greet sessions taking place until Feb. 11, and speak with them about the importance of film production tax incentives. Members are also encouraged to engage with their representatives prior to the legislative session beginning Feb. 12 through phone calls, letter-writing or through social media.
