Los Angeles (March 31, 2007)—The Screen Actors Guild Young Performers Committee today held an indoor carnival and informational fair to mark the launch of the Young Performers Handbook—an important resource for young actors and their parents. More than 400 SAG young performers (actors under age 18), their parents and guests attended the festive and educational event which featured indoor carnival games, information booths and Q&A opportunities with current and former young actors.

“Today’s event was a terrific success, allowing hundreds of young actors to secure their copy of the new Young Performers handbook, which is a must-have for any young SAG member,” SAG Young Performers Committee Chair Justin Shenkarow said. “Our committee members and staff worked hard to put on an event where SAG’s young performers and their parents could have a good time and meet other young actors—while also getting great information that they can’t get anywhere other than their Guild.”

Celebrity guests in attendance included:
Aimee Teegarden, "Julie Taylor" on Friday Night Lights; Slade Pearce, "Sam Daniels" on October Road; James Arnold Taylor, Voice of “Leonardo” in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; Matthew Underwood, “Logan Reese” on Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101; Daryl Sabara, Spykids, Halloween; Masiela Lusha, “Carmen Lopez” on The George Lopez Show; Jeremy James Kissner, “Eric” on Flight 29 Down; and Paul Petersen, “Jeff Stone” on The Donna Reed Show; Founder of child-actor support group “A Minor Consideration.”

The event was held in the James Cagney room at Screen Actors Guild headquarters in Los Angeles. In addition to the games and informational booths, the event featured a raffle for prizes such as Disneyland and Rose Parade ticket packages.

The Young Performers Handbook is now to available to SAG members and can be obtained by calling the Guild’s Assistant Manager of Policy & Planning, Jennifer Heater, at (323) 549-6572.
