(Los Angeles, January 7, 2005) As usual, SAG members have stepped up and generously donated their money and time to provide relief for those devastated by the Asian Tsunami.

As many members have asked how to help, Screen Actors Guild has joined forces with the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) in forming the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Tsunami Relief Fund . Entertainment workers throughout the country can contribute to this fund (see link below). Donations from studios, networks, unions, guilds and individuals are being collected by EIF and will be distributed to reputable relief agencies. This collaborative effort will provide much-needed assistance to those in dire need and demonstrate the true heart of our industry.

SAG President Melissa Gilbert and the SAG national board extends its heartfelt sympathy to those who lost loved ones in this overwhelming disaster and thank members for their generosity.

NOTE: The U.S. Congress passed legislation January 6 that allows taxpayers to make cash contributions to tsunami victims--during the month of January 2005--and deduct such donations on their 2004 tax return.
