Sara Bennett, SAG-AFTRA staff liaison to the Recording Artists and Singers Committee (RASC) in the Washington-Baltimore Local, was appointed to the Washington, DC Advisory Board of Musicians On Call on August 3, 2012. Musicians On Call (MOC) is “a national non-profit organization focused on bringing music to patients in healthcare facilities nationwide in the form of quality singers and musicians volunteering for MOC's Bedside Performance Programs”. The DC Branch, opened in 2011, brings music to wounded veterans at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Sara cultivated a relationship with MOC upon the opening of the DC Branch in an effort to spread awareness of the RASC. In turn, this gave RASC the opportunity to embrace the Musicians On Call program. In February of this year, the Washington-Baltimore Local co-sponsored a musical showcase with MOC at the Hard Rock Café in DC which raised over $1,000 to benefit Musicians On Call.
Sara’s participation on the Advisory Board continues to cement the Washington-Baltimore Local’s relationship with Musicians On Call. We congratulate Sara on this incredible honor!
