Just Say Si: The Latino Media Explosion Viewing Party

 
On March 18, a group of Washington-Mid Atlantic members gathered at the SAG-AFTRA office for a viewing party of Just Say Si: The Latino Media Explosion. This special event for SAG-AFTRA members was held in Miami, New York and Los Angeles, and was live-streamed to viewing parties across the country. Topics ranged from being a bilingual performer in a variety of media and markets to the resurgence of Spanish-language broadcasting and the opportunities new media provides artists by allowing them to produce their own work without the backing of a large studio. Panelists included Oscar-nominated actor Adriana Barraza, Louie Perez of the multiple Grammy Award-winning American-Chicano rock band Los Lobos and Spanish-language sportscasting pioneer Clemson Smith Muniz.

On Nov. 17, over 300 Washington, D.C., and Baltimore-area media professionals gathered at the National Press Club for the TIVA Peer Awards.
