Screen Actors Guild Members Mourn the Passing of Legendary Icons Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson

Los Angeles, CA (June 25, 2009) – Screen Actors Guild released the following statement on the deaths of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson: Already saddened by the recent passing of the wise and witty Ed McMahon, Screen Actors Guild members are today mourning the deaths of television legend Farrah Fawcett and entertainment icon Michael Jackson.

Screen Actors Guild National President Alan Rosenberg said: “Today marks the passing of two of the 20th Century’s most iconic and best loved entertainers. It is a deep loss for all of us in the entertainment industry and for the fans around the world whose lives were touched by Farrah and Michael.

“Farrah was the personification of our art. She had mastered her craft as an actress and was blessed with that elusive dynamism that makes an actor a star. My heart goes out to Ryan and Redmond and the other members of Farrah’s beloved family.

“Michael Jackson’s music and artistry was the soundtrack to much of the last half century. From the first Jackson Brothers recordings in the late 1960s to his most recent performances, Michael Jackson was a brilliant entertainer who made significant contributions to 20th Century music. His sudden passing has stunned us all. My deepest sympathies are with his children and all of the Jackson family,” Rosenberg added.

Screen Actors Guild Interim National Executive Director David White said: “It is a sad and somber day for the entertainment world and the millions of people who enjoyed Michael Jackson’s music and Farrah Fawcett’s brilliant performances. Along with our members and the world community who enjoyed their talents for more than three decades, I offer their loved ones my sincerest condolences.”
