SAG National Board Votes to:
Commence 2011 Industrial and Educational Contract Negotiation Process;
Delegate Bargaining Authority to Screen Actors Guild Basic Cable Negotiating Committees and Chief Negotiator; and
Explore Coordinated Bargaining of Live Action Basic Cable Programming with American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA)
Los Angeles, (September 11, 2010) - Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors today passed several negotiating-related motions including unanimous approval of a motion to commence the 2011 Industrial and Educational Contract negotiation process.
The motion authorized Screen Actors Guild National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator David White to enter into an agreement with AFTRA to expand the existing SAG/AFTRA TV/Theatrical joint bargaining agreement to include negotiations for a successor to the current Industrials Contract. The resolution also encourages Screen Actors Guild Branches and Divisions to facilitate discussions among interested members on organizing and policy issues on these contracts, to be conducted in addition to the traditional Wages and Working Conditions process.
In other actions, the National Board unanimously approved the delegation of bargaining authority to the negotiating committees and the chief negotiator for the SAG Basic Cable Live Action, TV Animation and Basic Cable Animation agreements.
The Basic Cable Live Action, Basic Cable Animation and TV Animation contracts negotiations with producers are tentatively scheduled to begin November 7, 2010.
As part of the Basic Cable Live Action agenda item, the SAG National Board voted to explore the possibility of coordinated bargaining with AFTRA in the area of live action basic cable programming.
