Ed Asner, Patty Duke, Melissa Gilbert, Barry Gordon, Richard Masur, Kathleen Nolan, William Schallert and Alan Rosenberg will spearhead plans for the 75th anniversary events.
Los Angeles (February 9, 2007)— Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg today announced the formation of the Guild’s 75th Anniversary Task Force. The Guild will celebrate the anniversary in 2008, and plans are underway for several nationwide events.
“I have invited all former presidents of Screen Actors Guild to be part of this very special milestone, and they have all agreed to lend their support,” Rosenberg said. “All of the Guild’s presidents have been integral parts of building this union, and I am pleased that they will come together for this important celebration of our proud history. I am truly honored to work with all of these past leaders who have such a unique understanding of the Guild. Together we will find numerous exciting ways to salute our union and our remarkable members.”
The task force—comprised of Edward Asner, Patty Duke, Melissa Gilbert, Barry Gordon, Richard Masur, Kathleen Nolan, William Schallert and Rosenberg—marks the first instance of a Guild committee made up solely of past presidents. Former presidents William Daniels, John Gavin and Charlton Heston have also agreed to lend their names to the 75th anniversary salute. Kathleen Nolan, who served as the Guild’s first national woman president from 1975-1979, will chair the task force.
