As you know, the holiday season is right around the corner. As we prepare to give gifts to our friends and family, working people across our region are struggling to provide holiday cheer to their families due to layoffs, injuries or other economic hardship.
For many years the Puget Sound Labor Agency (AFL-CIO) has hosted an annual Children’s Holiday Party to bring some much-needed joy and respite to working families in need.
When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7
Where: The Seattle Labor Temple
2800 1st Ave #140, Seattle, WA 98121
(If you know of a family who could benefit from attending this event, please contact the Seattle Local Office by Monday, Dec. 2, 2019.)
This year, our SAG-AFTRA siblings in the Portland Local have thrown down a “Holiday Toy Challenge.” We’re asking Seattle Local members to participate by donating unwrapped toys (appropriate for ages 1 day to 12 years old) or Fred Meyer gift cards, either at the PSLA office at the Seattle Labor Temple, 2800 First Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121, or here at the Seattle Local Office, 123 Boylston Avenue East, Seattle, WA 98102. Take a picture of your donation and email that, along with a copy of your receipt to seattle@sagaftra.org. Deadline for donations is Friday, December 6, 2019.
The local donating the most toys will not only earn bragging rights, but will have the opportunity to witness members of the losing local sing YOUR STATE SONG!
