The SAG-AFTRA President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement held a Self-Tape for TV Basics livestream on July 2, hosted by President Gabrielle Carteris. The event featured casting director Jason Kennedy (NCIS: New Orleans, Elizabethtown) with Executive Vice President Rebecca Damon and Secretary-Treasurer Camryn Manheim leading the Q&A session.

The 90-minute livestream focused on equipment needed to set up a space for self-taping and helpful tips and techniques for performing on camera, slating and submitting auditions for television.

“When productions start back up, I’m sure there will be a lot less in-person auditions and a lot more virtual auditions, and self-taping will likely be the default for the foreseeable future,” said Kennedy. “So, it’s a good time to get comfortable with how to make a great self-tape.”
