The Singers Committee took part in Pathways, the Blind Service Association’s summer youth camp, at the Cultural Center on July 30–31. Committee members not only entertained the students with a variety of songs, but also taught the students a few tunes to be performed at a special brunch for their families.
Pathways is a six-week program that is sponsored by the Blind Service Association and is open to blind and visually impaired students age 10—18. At the camp, which runs through June and July, students receive training on everyday activities such as shopping, cane travel, money management, cooking and house cleaning. The camp also has various recreation activities such as sports, swimming, sailing, performing arts and field trips. The Blind Service Association is one of Chicago’s most popular and experienced volunteer organizations assisting people with visual impairments.
