On June 28, SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher and Vice President, Los Angeles and L.A. Local President Jodi Long hosted the Republic of Korea Minister of Culture, Sports & Tourism Yu In-chon and his delegation during a special visit to SAG-AFTRA Plaza.
The Republic of Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism works to promote South Korean culture, media and tourism internationally. Minister Yu’s visit, which was part of his larger tour of the U.S. and Canada, provided an opportunity to discuss the union’s work in the entertainment and media industry. Together, the group shared their experience as performers — prior to his government work, Minister Yu appeared in films, television shows and stage performances — and Drescher and Long discussed the union’s work in pushing for contract safeguards for artificial intelligence, particularly in the 2023 TV/Theatrical Contracts. Also present were union staff and members of the South Korean press.
