A Statement About Scale Minimums

"We are in awe of Atlanta performers taking a stand on behalf of their craft and livelihood. SAG-AFTRA is committed to seeking the strongest protections for media artists working throughout the world: negotiating the best wages, working conditions, and health and pension benefits; preserving and expanding members’ work opportunities; vigorously enforcing our contracts; and protecting members against unauthorized use of their work. Union contracts set scale minimum rates (an amount that increases annually) to protect performers from being taken advantage of. Actors who have credits and experience are justified in their expectation that they should be able to bargain more than scale and casting companies/producers should be open to negotiation."
