Stepping From the Background Into the Foreground

The Los Angeles Local Background Actors Committee held its third event of the year on Nov. 19 with Sande Alessi and Shayne Hartigan from Alessi Hartigan Casting. This event was a follow-up to the virtual “happy hour” held in September.

Sande and Shayne spoke about their start in the industry and how they got into the casting world. They provided a background on how their casting process works as well as important advice they hear from agents. Some of this advice included best headshot practices, being mindful of your social media presence, getting into acting classes that can be used on a resume, doing research on agents and casting directors you may want to work with, and building a rapport with onset staff and crew.

The event ended with members being able to ask questions of the casting directors.
