Recent events have made it clear that there is plenty more work for our industry and our society to do to make our communities and workplaces more fair, equitable, inclusive and safe. As a union, our commitment to advancing opportunities must transcend our negotiating, programmatic, and advocacy efforts – we must rededicate ourselves to fighting discrimination in all its forms.
Today we kick off Stop the Hate Week – a week of diversity, equity, inclusion and ability programming featuring SAG-AFTRA members and affinity organizations that will be open to all members and the public. These events will give members a chance to speak up, listen in and think critically about the issues facing our community.
A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and ability requires work from the top down and the bottom up, and that’s what Stop the Hate Week aims to accomplish. We need a platform to discuss the inequities present in our industry, share concerns and make a plan to address them.
Words alone do not create change, which is why this week will culminate in a series of actionable recommendations sent to SAG-AFTRA’s National Board. We are committed to providing resources, carrying them out and creating an environment of accountability in the weeks and months ahead.
We want you to join these essential conversations. Click here to learn more, sign up to join and share the news in social media with your circle of friends.
