Kathy Byrne, director of TV/Theatrical for the SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local, reports that although film/TV production in the Twin Cities Local boundaries (which includes Minnesota and the Dakotas) is slow right now, the area did see more than 40 film production contracts during 2013. Following is the list of SAG-AFTRA productions based on locations where Minnesota is listed as the primary shoot location.

Note that this list does not include films such as the recent Sundance Film Festival favorite, Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter, because although the film did considerable shooting in Minnesota and employed local actors/production staff, Minnesota was not listed as the primary production location. See local member Shirley Venard’s article on her role in the film and going to Sundance.

Byrne also reported that she will be traveling to Minnesota in late March for a presentation on Working With SAG-AFTRA Low Budget Agreements at the annual Twin Cities Actor Expo (March 29 at Hopkins Center for the Arts), and informal meetings with local filmmakers and franchised agents. Twin Cities Local SAG-AFTRA members will be staffing the SAG-AFTRA information table at the Expo — let us know if you want to volunteer. Be sure to check out the TC Actor Expo website later this month for more details.
