Attention Louisiana SAG-AFTRA Members:
SAG-AFTRA, the Recording Academy, and the five players’ unions (MLBA, MLSPA, NBPA, NFLPA, NHLPA) advocate for strong right of publicity laws. These laws make sure our members can control how their name, image, and likeness is used on merchandise, in commercials, in print advertisements, live concerts, movies, TV shows, and video games.
The Louisiana House of Representatives is considering the Allen Toussaint Legacy Act in honor of the deceased music legend. We want to make sure your elected representative knows how important right of publicity laws are to artists and ensure your voice is heard in support of this pending legislation.

Hi, my name is (NAME), and I live in (your town). I’m a (actor, recording artist, musician, broadcaster, etc.) and I’m calling to voice my support for HB 377, the Allen Toussaint Legacy Act and ask that [name of your representative] also support Representative Leger’s legislation.
As a [performer/broadcaster], my name, my voice, and my image is how I making a living. It is for this reason that the majority of states in America recognize a right of publicity law. Without laws, there is nothing to stop someone from cloning my voice or slapping my face on a product or video game. I’m so grateful to Representative Leger for introducing legislation that will protect all Louisiana artists for generations to come.
Thank you!
