A few weeks ago, we asked you to lend your voice to help end unequal treatment of people of color, particularly African Americans, based on their hair.
The CROWN Act, which ensures protection against discrimination based on race-based hairstyles in the workplace and public schools, is back on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote tomorrow, Friday, March 18.
Please help move this important legislation forward by contacting your legislator and asking them to pass the CROWN Act.
Find your legislator HERE and send them an email TODAY.
Here’s a sample message:
"I am a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, the largest entertainment union in the world representing actors, recording artists and broadcasters, and I am a constituent who cares. I urge you to support the CROWN Act (HR 2116) and put an end to race-based hair discrimination in the workplace once and for all."
Also consider posting your support on social media. Here are some suggestions:
I'm a proud #sagaftramember and I support the #CROWNAct, which would ban discrimination against Black people based on how they wear their hair. Contact your Congressperson and tell them to vote yes on H.R. 2116. https://bit.ly/3hipBCr
It’s not complicated — discrimination against Black people because of their hair is unacceptable. The #CROWNAct would make it a thing of the past. Contact your Congressperson and tell them to vote yes on H.R. 2116. #sagaftramember https://bit.ly/3hipBCr
Thank you for taking action!
