As you know, the film and television production incentive has created thousands of good paying jobs and helped thousands of small businesses across the state. Unfortunately, under the current law, this program is set to end in 2022 – eliminating this local industry and the good jobs and career opportunities that come with it.
We need support for two bills that have been filed to eliminate the Sunset Provision (HD 388 and SD 424). You can contact your legislators directly by simply clicking here.
We are asking legislators to show their support by co-sponsoring these bills!
The more Senators and Representatives we can get to co-sponsor this bill and show their support for this vital program, the better. The deadline to co-sponsor bills is approaching quickly, so please contact your Senators and Representatives today!
Three years may seem like a long time but is not, especially with multi-year episodic series making decisions RIGHT NOW about coming to Massachusetts for the long-term. As we have seen this past year, these series employ more local workers for longer periods of time, help grow local businesses and stimulate greater capital investment in infrastructure. If we fail to act now, multi-year episodic series will start looking elsewhere for future series that are looking to film beyond 2022.
Please use the link above to email YOUR state legislators and ask them to co-sponsor HD 388/SD 424 to eliminate the sunset on the film and television production incentive to keep this vital industry growing and these good film and television jobs here in Massachusetts.
You will be linked to a letter to send to your legislators, but please take the time to add your personal story about your work in the film and T.V. production industry and what the incentive has meant to you and your family. Also, please share this with family and friends and urge them to join you by emailing their legislators as well.
Thank you for your continued support.
