SYNOPSIS:

From Executive Producer Danny Strong and starring and executive produced by Michael Keaton, Dopesick examines how one company triggered the worst drug epidemic in American history. The series takes viewers to the epicenter of America’s struggle with opioid addiction, from the boardrooms of Big Pharma, to a distressed Virginia mining community, to the hallways of the DEA. Defying all the odds, heroes will emerge in an intense and thrilling ride to take down the craven corporate forces behind this national crisis and their allies. The limited series is inspired by the New York Times bestselling book by Beth Macy.

The eight-episode series stars Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Will Poulter, John Hoogenakker, with Kaitlyn Dever and Rosario Dawson. Guest stars include Phillipa Soo and Jake McDorman.

Dopesick is written by Emmy winner, Danny Strong (Empire, Recount, Game Change) and directed by Oscar winner, Barry Levinson (PATERNO, RAIN MAN) Executive producers for Dopesick include Strong, John Goldwyn (Dexter), Keaton, Levinson, Warren Littlefield (The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo, The Old Man), Beth Macy (Dopesick) and Karen Rosenfelt (TWILIGHT).

SYNOPSIS

Building one's team is an important component to an actor's career. This small group session will cover what an actor has to keep in mind when looking to add a commercial agent, theatrical agent, and manager to their team.

Please bring pencil or pen along with something to take notes.

Small Group Sessions are facilitated discussions with the goal of digging deeper into some of the information and advice shared within the panels. These sessions provide a time to break down concepts into practical action items by which an actor can individually apply to their professional pursuits. This session will last for 1.5 - 2 hours. Participants must stay for the whole time.

SYNOPSIS

There are many areas an actor can pursue within the entertainment industry. By taking the time to narrow down what an actor really wants to focus on it can free them up to deepen their pursuit of job opportunities. In this session, we will examine the different ways an actor can focus their career goals and discuss how one can create a system by which to effectively target the industry professionals within that area.

Please bring pencil or pen along with something to take notes.

Small group sessions are facilitated discussions with the goal of digging deeper into some of the information and advice shared within the panels. These sessions provide a time to break down concepts into practical action items by which an actor can individually apply to their professional pursuits. This session will last for 1.5 - 2 hours. SYNOPSIS

Time is a finite resource. If you do not plan how to best use your time, days, weeks, months or years could go by without you feeling like your goals have been achieved. In this small group session we will examine where you can adjust past habits to best use your time in relation to your acting pursuits. You will come out of this session with some techniques to budget your time more effectively.

Please bring pencil or pen along with something to take notes.

These sessions provide a time to break down concepts into practical action items by which an actor can individually apply to their professional pursuits. SAG-AFTRA Foundation Vocal Health and Therapy for the Actor

Join Scott Sussman, a speech-language pathologist and voice specialist working with actors in New York City, for a talk on caring for the actor’s voice, and what you can do when your voice isn’t working for you. Topics will include vocal health, tips for the working actor, the process of seeking evaluation and treatment for voice difficulties, and an introduction to vocal exercises. 

INSTRUCTOR BIO

Scott Sussman, M.S., CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist specializing in voice disorders at the Sean Parker Institute for the Voice at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. During his career as an actor, singer, and stand-up comedian, Scott received voice therapy to cope with the grueling voice demands of professional actors, and was inspired to become a voice therapist himself.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Beginner Bundle: Intro to Dialogue Voiceover

Two or more voiceover actors tackling the same copy at the same time in the same recording space is an exciting proposition.  It requires good timing and vocal dexterity to keep the dialogue sounding interesting, lively and conversational.  It's a bookable skill that takes practice and focus. We will introduce concepts and direction that will help individual performances mesh to benefit the collective  read. This program is specifically tuned for performers that are new to dialogue voiceover and copy will be provided by the VO Lab.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Restriction: If you previously participated in a Beginner Bundle: Intro to Dialogue Voiceover, or Dynamic Duos: Commercial Workouts for Two (or Three), you are not eligible to participate in this offering. Instead, look for our next Dynamic Duos: Commercial Workouts for Two (or Three) and sign up.   
  • There may be a limited number of designated readers chosen for this class/workout, depending on the number of performers and class time. Everyone on the RSVP and Waitlist will be notified about designated reader updates, prior to the class start time, when needed.
  • Attendees must be present for the entire program Noon - 3p.m. PT / 3-6 p.m. ET

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Beginner Bundle: Introduction to Audiobook Workouts

This class is for those that are new to voiceover and interested in narrating and understanding some of the performance elements involved when recording audiobooks. This class will also prepare you for participating in the VO Lab's Non-Beginner Bundle Audiobook Workout Groups and our Home Submission: Audiobook Edition Workout Groups.  You will touch on narrating, editing, software workflows, audiobook demos, types of payments, and pay rates.  

REQUIREMENTS

  • This class is for beginners that are new  to audiobook narration and audiobook workout groups.  If you have previously attended Beginner Bundle: Introduction to Audiobook Workouts, as a designated reader or auditor or have  experience narrating and self-recording audiobooks, you are not eligible for this offering. Instead, you are encouraged to register for the standard VO Lab Audiobook Workout Group.
  • Check your book shelf. Attendees must prepare one (1) book excerpt that is 1-2-minutes long. The excerpt needs to be fiction (no non-fiction, self-help, instructionals, erotica or children's books).  Readers will be selected randomly and the number of readers may be limited due to the number of attendees and time constraints.
  • Attendees must stay for the entire class  Noon - 3 p.m. PT / 3-6 p.m. ET
