Tune In for the 2024 Media Access Awards

Tune in for the Media Access Awards ceremony to celebrate this year’s winners and honor the work and inclusion of people with disabilities. Hosted this year by SAG-AFTRA member Daryl "Chill" Mitchell (NCIS: New Orleans, Fear the Walking Dead), this will be the first-ever national broadcast focused on disability inclusion in media.

This year’s award winners include Michael J. Fox, Jillian Mercado, Eric Graise, Marion Dayre, Joshua Feldman, Shoshannah Stern, Maribeth Fox and Danny Kurtzman.

Presenters include Jimmy Kimmel, Selma Blair, Adam Pearson, Nic Novicki and Millicent Simmonds.

With special performances by Gaelynn Lea and Natasha Ofili.

When:

• Premiering in the L.A. area on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. PT on PBS SoCal. The show will be available to stream on the PBS app concurrent with the premiere.

The Media Access Awards is the world’s top awards ceremony honoring people in the film and television industries who are advancing the accurate portrayals and employment of people with disabilities. This annual virtual show, done in partnership with Easterseals Disability Services, honors entertainment industry professionals who have advanced disability-related narrative and employment in fields of writing, producing, casting, performance and directing.

SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award presented at the Media Access Awards

Presented in recognition of Harold Russell, the first actor with a disability to receive an Oscar, SAG-AFTRA honors a professional performer, writer, or other industry professional with a disability that has substantially contributed to the overall awareness of the disability experience through the media, thereby validating, strengthening, and enhancing the cultural heritage and pride of people with disabilities.

Previous winners include Selma Blair, Troy Kotsur, Lauren Ridloff, Nyle DiMarco, CJ Jones, Nic Novicki, Jamie Brewer, Mat Fraser, Danny Murphy, RJ Mitte, Lauren Potter and Marlee Matlin.
