Twin Cities Local members enjoyed some exciting presentations at the Nov. 17 SAG-AFTRA Twin Cities Local membership meeting at The Jungle Theater in Minneapolis. Local President Bob Davis welcomed members and outlined his vision to get them back to work. Members heard brief reports from National Board member Randal Berger and Director of Locals Administration Colleen Aho, and then focused on a hands-on demonstration of the new SAG-AFTRA Twin Cities numbers calculator by Sue Scott (see story below). Scott and local organizing committee members have been getting feedback from local producers and others about the calculator tool, and noted that some producers have been pleasantly surprised by how reasonable union rates are — and positive word is spreading via word of mouth, members’ informal use of social media and members passing out the website URL. A rollout launch party is planned for later in 2015.

First Vice President Peter Moore updated the members on the Twin Cities Local’s new Co-Ed Contract Waiver, and SAG-AFTRA Chicago Director of Freelance Jamie Marchi was introduced to the members as the “Ask Jamie” staff person featured prominently in the Twin Cities calculator. Users will contact her directly with their questions about commercials and Co-Ed projects. She took questions from members and expressed enthusiastic support for the members’ work and optimism that both the calculator tool and local Co-Ed waiver will result in greater work opportunities for Twin Cities Local members. She also encouraged members to call her anytime with questions.
