Members of the SAG-AFTRA Twin Cities Local, along with their labor siblings at IATSE Local 490, gathered June 10 at Conduit Sound and 56 Brewing for a solidarity happy hour with legislative and industry allies and supporters of film production in Minnesota. This year, the unions and their legislative allies were again able to achieve their top legislative goal: the establishment of a state film office, Explore Minnesota Film, housed in the executive branch. This change will better position Minnesota to attract episodic and theatrical production. From left, IATSE Local 490 member Brian Simpson, Minnesota Rep. Dave Lislegard, Minnesota Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman, Minnesota Rep. John Huot, Twin Cities Local Board member Mark Bradley and Twin Cities Local President Casey E. Lewis.
