The Louisiana Film Entertainment Association's bill, HB 562 by House Speaker Schexnayder, is scheduled to be heard Tuesday, April, 18, at 9 a.m. at the House Ways & Means Committee meeting. The main component of HB 562 is the elimination of the sunset clause on our industry, which is currently scheduled to end in 2025.

How can you help?

This is the first step of the legislative process, and LFEA needs two things from bill supporters over the weekend and Tuesday.

We need a massive show of support Tuesday in person at the capitol. If you are able, we need you to attend. LFEA will be distributing FILM=JOBS stickers and need Local members to fill out a green card in support of the bill. A table outside the committee room will be set up to help you with this, and more information will be sent on Monday, April, 17.

We need as many people as possible to email the House Ways & Means Committee members by Monday night to let them know of your support of HB 562. Click this link to email the committee and let them know how the local film industry has allowed you to raise your family here, the positive impact it has had on your life or your extended family, or perhaps even helped start or grow your business.

Our program has been cut and curtailed enough over the years. HB 562 seeks to bring predictability and stability for all of us. Try to keep it short and to the point while making it personal. These letters make a huge impact. Let them know your name, where you are from, and your story.

For those of you who want to come to the capitol on Tuesday, please email info@LFEA.org for further coordination and instructions.
