A large group of SAG-AFTRA members are gathered on a street. They are wearing black T-shirts with white and yellow text that reads “SAG-AFTRA on Strike.” They hold signs that read “SAG-AFTRA Video Game Strike” in white and yellow text on a black and purple background with the image of a fist holding a video game controller. The people at the front of the group hold a SAG-AFTRA parade banner with black text on a yellow background.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, SAG-AFTRA New York Local members took to Fifth Avenue for the annual New York City Central Labor Council Labor Day Parade and March, the oldest celebration of labor in the country. The theme of this year’s parade was “All Workers, Many Voices, One Fight” and SAG-AFTRA members came out in large numbers to support striking video game performers. With video game strike signs in hand, members brought attention to the fight for consent and fair compensation for workers who bring video game characters to life.

Ahead of the parade, SAG-AFTRA representatives attended the annual Labor Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and participated in the traditional procession of union flags.
