The 2020 Maryland Legislative session has started and the Maryland Film Industry Coalition has put in a bill to increase the annual amount available for film and TV tax credits (SB718). The Coalition will need your help to support that legislation when a hearing is set.

However, the incentive program has been targeted for reduction and elimination with a sunset date of fiscal year 2023. We need your help right now to oppose HB565 which seeks to eliminate the film and TV tax credit program in 2023.

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Mark your calendar to attend the hearing at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12 in the Ways and Means Committee Hearing Room (Room 131) of the House Office Building, 6 Bladen Street, Annapolis, MD. We need to show a large presence at this hearing!
  2. Marylanders, please email or call the chair and the other members of the House Ways and Means Committee to let them know you oppose the elimination of the program and why. Tell them who you are, what you do and why the film industry is important to you or your business.
