How Do I Calculate What is Commissionable to My Agent? [1]
General Commissionability:
SAG-AFTRA often receives queries from performers (and other industry professionals) regarding which portion of their pay is commissionable.
For non-residual payments (e.g. penalties, fees, overtime, etc.), a rundown of what is generally commissionable is located below.
For residual payments, there are two charts that performers should look to for additional clarity:
- If your agent is only AFTRA-franchised (this includes any ATA/NATR agents), please consult the 12-C agency regulations commission chart, located below in Resources and Downloads.
- If your agent is only SAG-franchised, please consult the 16(g) agency regulations commission chart, located below in Resources and Downloads.
Note: If your agent is both SAG and AFTRA franchised, please start with the 16(g) commission chart as your default. If any questions arise as to which chart best applies to your situation, please do not hesitate to contact us and we would be happy to assist you with your questions. [2]
[1] You may also consult with the SAG-AFTRA’s Professional Representatives Department if you have general questions about commissionability to other representatives, e.g., personal managers.
[2] Please note: If you are a SAG-AFTRA member from Los Angeles, the SAG and AFTRA commission charts are interchangeable, so you may consult either version.
