Allbritton-owned Channel 7/WJLA and Hubbard all-news channel WTOP, 103.5/103.9/107.7 FM, pick up national Edward R. Murrow awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association for breaking news coverage of the September 2013 Navy Yard shootings. “Breaking news coverage is the No. 1 priority for our news department,” says WJLA General Manager Bill Lord. “Our team is always ready to get to the story first and to stay with the breaking news event until it has been resolved.
