Happy 2015, fellow SAG-AFTRA Michigan Local members!

Thanks to the tireless efforts of your Local Board, 2014 was filled with member-driven activities.

In November, the SAG-AFTRA Michigan Local hosted a filmmakers forum at Compass College of Cinematic Arts in Grand Rapids. Local filmmakers learned how simple and painless it is to hire professional SAG-AFTRA talent for their projects. SAG-AFTRA members learned how to navigate the union’s low-budget and other contracts. Compass students learned that when you hire union talent, you hire the best.

Kathy Byrne from SAG-AFTRA led the lively discussion with vast knowledge, easy-to-comprehend information and humor. Thank you, Kathy! She returns for an encore this spring in Detroit. Expect to see an announcement soon.

The SAG-AFTRA Michigan Local Coffee Connections continue to inspire locals across the country to set up their own connections. The next Coffee Connection is coming to a coffee house near you. Your SAG-AFTRA Michigan Local is planning other events this year for broadcasters, voiceover artists, actors, singers and all other performers. Our local is stepping up our game in 2015. We welcome, encourage and celebrate your involvement.

In solidarity,
Jayne Bower
