It’s a Hot Labor Summer! Learn about SAG-AFTRA’s fair fight for a fair contract and the ways it’s lending support to union workers across industries.
The new enhanced digital issue of SAG-AFTRA magazine has you covered for the summer with the union’s latest news and happenings!
At midnight, July 14, SAG-AFTRA members went on strike against the studios and streamers represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers — the largest labor action in the United States in 26 years. We joined our sibling members of the Writers Guild of America in our first joint strike in 63 years.
In the time since, members of both unions have not only taken our fight for a fair contract, fair wages and protections against A.I. to the gates and sidewalks of studios and streamers, but around the globe as artists are rising in solidarity fighting for our collective futures.
Check out our extensive cover story to see what SAG-AFTRA members are fighting for, and how members and allies at locals across the country have answered the call for solidarity in a “hot labor summer” of actions by hotel workers, Teamsters and auto workers.
As the strike continues, it’s more important than ever to be mindful of money management. Banking with an industry-focused federal credit union may offer SAG-AFTRA members better benefits and services than typical banks. In this issue, we take a look at this helpful financial alternative and provide information about their emergency aid services for patrons.
Plus, we look back at the KPOL strike of 1965-67 and how the fight against automation then very much mirrors our fight today. These features, plus information about our new contracts for podcasts and member discounts can be found in this issue of SAG-AFTRA magazine. Click here to get started.
