ACTRA Toronto congratulates SAG and AFTRA on the successful vote to merge their two unions.

“I’m very pleased to see that the merger of SAG and AFTRA passed with a resounding majority,” said Heather Allin, President of ACTRA Toronto. “The increased bargaining power and combined strengths of these two performer unions positions our U.S. brothers and sisters to meet the challenges of today’s media employers with unity. It allows screen-based performers to pursue fair wages, better working conditions, streamlined health and pension benefits and increased work opportunities with one voice.”

ACTRA Toronto is the largest organization within ACTRA, representing over 15,000 of Canada’s 22,000 professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada.  As an advocate for Canadian culture since 1943, ACTRA is a member-driven organization that continues to secure rights and respect for the work of professional performers.
