Over the last few years, we have had some agency closures and several agencies in town are newly franchised. Please take a moment to look at the current list of SAG-AFTRA-franchised agents in Chicago.

Pursuant to the requirements of SAG-AFTRA rules and regulations, union members in Chicago are required to be represented by agents that are franchised under either the SAG or AFTRA agency regulations, or both. Representational relationships with non-franchised agents do not comply with SAG-AFTRA requirements in our local, unless specific exceptions apply. This precaution is necessary in order to ensure that our members’ rights are fully protected in their relationships with their agents. Franchised agents — as well as the SAG-AFTRA members that they represent — are protected by, and bound to, the terms and conditions of Rule 16(g), aka the SAG agency regulations and/or Rule 12-C, aka the AFTRA agency regulations. Agents in Chicago who are not franchised are outside of SAG-AFTRA’s jurisdiction, and our members are not protected by the union in those relationships. SAG-AFTRA members should be careful not to place themselves in violation of SAG-AFTRA rules by deciding to work with such agencies.
