Happy Holidays!

I hope this message finds you thriving, as our Atlanta Local continues to be an important leader in the entertainment industry. According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Georgia film and TV business generated “a chart-topping year for the film and television industry, as productions spent $4.4 billion in Georgia during fiscal year 2022 — a new industry record.”

SAG-AFTRA experienced a successful year of transformative Commercial Contract and Netflix Contract negotiations, and our Atlanta Local Board worked to secure significant improvements to our Atlanta Regional Commercial Code. We’ve included highlights of each of these contract negotiations on our local page. Additionally, SAG-AFTRA has announced the start of the wages and working conditions (W&W) process in preparation for the negotiation of the TV/Theatrical Contracts, which expire on June 30, 2023. The next Atlanta Local general W&W meeting is Jan. 19. Please register here.

In preparation for the TV/Theatrical negotiations, the SAG-AFTRA National Board has appointed a self-tape committee to explore and consider ways to improve the self-tape process. I’m happy to announce that a regional member meeting was held for the Atlanta Local on Dec. 5 to discuss self-taping. Members from the Nashville and Miami locals joined our Atlanta members for a productive conversation on how we can improve the self-tape process for the hardworking performers in our markets.

I’d also like to welcome Khallida Kidd to our SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Local staff. Hailing from Los Angeles, Khallida is the newest business representative in the Atlanta Local. After serving five-plus years in SAG-AFTRA’s national office, she is now excited to fight for and represent the wonderful members of Atlanta and be a part of an excellent team. She enjoys organizing closets, interior decorating and exploring the city in her free time.

If you need to contact our local staff for any reason, please send an email to atlanta@sagaftra.org.
