Union membership gives performers access to deals and discounts, as well as classes and events that can strengthen their careers. But it also provides access to other resources and services that support industry professionals and their families in times of need.
The SAG-AFTRA President’s Task Force on Education, Outreach & Engagement gave an overview of such services with the Here to Help: MPTF & Entertainment Community Fund session. The event, hosted in partnership with the SAG-AFTRA National Seniors Committee, featured Committee Co-Chair Lee Purcell as co-host alongside SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Ben Whitehair.
The session focused on the work of two charitable organizations, the Motion Picture & Television Fund and the Entertainment Community Fund, formerly known as The Actors Fund. MPTF Director of Community Services Jennifer George and Entertainment Community Fund Director of Social Services, Western Region Tina Hookom gave presentations outlining their work and the relief services they provide to industry professionals.
The session concluded with a Q&A session.
