On June 7, the National Broadcast Steering Committee met in the New York offices of SAG-AFTRA. Made up of broadcast member delegates from all locals, the committee meets three times a year to set the union’s agenda for the broadcast constituency. In the morning, the committee heard from BSC Chair Joe Krebs, attended to business items and received staff updates on recent negotiations, organizing campaigns, and other developments. In the afternoon, committee members and staff liaisons broke up into small working groups to brainstorm on the priorities and needs of the membership in this unique work area. BSC Committee member Rich Lamb commented, “As a democratic and member-driven organization, participation and leadership by volunteer members such as those on the BSC is essential to the strength of SAG-AFTRA.”
