Submissions are being accepted now through Dec. 23 for the Chicago Film XLerator program. The CFX is a quarterly accelerated program that supports filmmakers. One production team will be supported through the complete process of making a short film/web series episode of 3-10 minutes in length, including pitching and promotion.
Each finished piece will automatically be screened at the New Breed Film Showcase and approximately five other festivals, plus multiple digital platforms per genre. The filmmakers receive a host of resources from several Chicago organizations plus yearlong memberships to all supporting organizations.
Recognizing a need to support the growing demand for digital content, SAG-AFTRA member and former board member Troy Pryor created the Chicago Film XLerator, which launched last month, after a year of piloting concepts with partners.
“Accelerators are typically a business development program found in major cities and incubators for start-ups. This model is being applied here for creatives,” states Pryor, founder of Creative Cypher.
Pryor emphasizes that “Ideas without execution or access to resources lead to nowhere. Our program will help ensure quality work is completed on a regular basis. Making sure there is inclusion and not just diversity is another key to ensure we support a variety of ideas and stories.”
The Chicago Film XLerator was founded by Creative Cypher in association with International Screenwriters Association, Third Beacon, OTV and Eleven 04.
