A woman sprays a big Actors statuette.

To kick off the first televised presentation of the SAG Awards in 1995, Angela Lansbury took the spotlight on Stage 12 at Universal Studios in Los Angeles and told the assembled audience of actors and performers, “I’ve been Elizabeth Taylor’s little sister, Spencer Tracy’s mistress, Elvis’ mother and a singing teapot. … Tonight is dedicated to the art and craft of acting by the people who should know about it: actors. And remember, you’re one too!”

For 25 years, the SAG Awards has been a celebration of outstanding performances as chosen by actors’ peers.
