After a seven-week strike, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is once again playing music at Concert Hall. The CSO members have unanimously ratified a new five-year contract that addresses most of their striking points.
The CSO and its union, the Chicago Federation of Musicians, had been on strike against the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association since March 10, after more than 11 months of contract negotiations for better terms, wages and protection of health care benefits and the pension plan.
A huge thank-you to SAG-AFTRA members for their solidarity in joining the CSO’s fight for better contract terms.
The Orchestra is one of the city’s most treasured gems, having been a Chicago institution for 128 years.
