The SAG-AFTRA Portland Local recently reconstituted the Local Conservatory Committee. As we move into the second quarter of 2019, three events have been offered to both members and pre-members with more on the way.

Amid a February snowstorm, the committee held a tax planning and informational seminar to help members and other industry union members navigate the new tax laws and prepare for tax season.

In contrast, a sunny-but-cold afternoon on March 2 gave Portland a full house for an audition clinic with Rogers. It was inspiring to see our local talent eager to hone their skills and strengthen our industry.

For the most recent event on April 6, Los Angeles casting director Lisa Beach visited Portland and gave members advice for their auditions and insight into their marketing materials. After the event, she told the committee she was very impressed with the union talent in Portland.

The Conservatory Committee has big plans the rest of 2019 with workshops in the coming months focused on action and stunts, safety during intimate scenes, the business of acting, voice work and more. Members, make sure to check the Portland Local Facebook group regularly, and that your contact information is up-to-date with SAG-AFTRA so you can receive emails with event registration information.
