- Union-Covered Work: Streamlined access to all relevant Department personnel for any claims-related issues, as well as one-on-one assistance in converting non-union jobs to SAG-AFTRA work opportunities.
- Arbitration/ Dispute Resolution: Inexpensive and quick SAG-AFTRA-sponsored AAA arbitration in cases of member-agent dispute.
- Mediation: SAG-AFTRA researches, investigates, and informally resolves issues between SAG-AFTRA members and their franchised agents, both monetary and contractual, without expensive legal action or arbitration, whenever possible.
- 24/7 Online Residuals Tracker: Franchised agents can view all their clients’ residuals information, on their own timetable. SAG-AFTRA also assists its franchised agents to ensure residual payments to its members are both timely and correct.
- Residual Check Authorizations: Franchised agents can have all commissionable residuals checks sent directly to their agency, when authorized by performer.
- Official Communications: Franchised agents receive contemporaneous email notification of all major events/news including, but not limited to: strike notices, new contract terms, W&W, do not work orders, legislative updates, etc. In addition, franchised agents get exclusive access to the SAG-AFTRA magazine, as well as regular issues of our e-newsletter.
- 24/7 Online Agents Portal: Franchised agents get access to key information/documents, including:
- Production Search Database, so agents can search signatory status of any potential projects.
- Safe and secure use of electronic (paperless) contracts and check authorizations which can be emailed to all members.
- Dedicated email communications with PR Department staff at agency@sagaftra.org or agencyny@sagaftra.org
- Access to full client lists, with attached expiration dates for all contracts.
- Immediate access to all documents and forms needed to represent performers, across all areas.
- National TV Showsheet for current SAG-AFTRA productions, distributed on a monthly basis and posted in the Agency Portal.
- Electronic Franchised Agent Bulletin Board: The union maintains a digital “bulletin board” which can be used for job postings, requests for mergers, and other business opportunities.
- Continuing Education: Access to regular educational seminars, including, but not limited to, sexual harassment training, training on collective bargaining agreements, special seminars on the state of the industry, etc.
- Safety: Frontline information about safety on sets, 24/7 access to set reps, as well as sexual harassment/assault professional counsellors.
- Agents and Managers: General assistance in facilitating the often complex relationships between agents and managers and/or other industry professionals.
- Claim Assistance: Union staff assist franchised agents in their relationship issues/disputes with their clients. In addition, union staff across departments assist franchised agents in the filing of claims against signatory employers, as needed.
- Standardized Agency Contracts: Pre-approved, standard agency contracts incorporating all State and SAG-AFTRA regulations for exclusive use.
- “Hip Pocket” or “Handshake” Relationships: Ability to list all freelance clients for residual routing and tracking purposes, as well as online database which connects potential employers with member-clients.
- New Agent Orientation: Online and in-person continuing education seminars for existing and new agency employees re: application of agency regulations nationwide.
- W&W Meetings: Dedicated franchised agent meetings as part of the collective bargaining process, as well as regular check-ins during the ramp-up to negotiations.
