It was "Lights! Camera! Action!" at the 19th annual Cucaloros Film Festival in Wilmington, N.C. Founded in 1994, this event brings multitudes of filmmakers, creative leaders and moviegoers to the historic downtown riverfront of “Wilmeywood.” This year, the Cucaloros Film Festival showcased more than 200 films from the Philippines, Spain and more than 70 cities across the United States.

Local staff members, including Executive Contract Administrator Tamara Daniels and Communications and Member Outreach/Washington — Mid Atlantic Coordinator Toni-Ann Syncon had the opportunity to represent SAG-AFTRA during the festivities. They attended various films, including local SAG-AFTRA projects White Reindeer, directed by Zach Clark, and A Short History of Decay, directed by Michael Maren.

The festival featured a special panel presentation entitled State of the Slate: The future of film and TV in North Carolina. Panelists included N.C. Film Commission Director Aaron Syrett; Executive VP, EUE/Screengems Studios Bill Vassar; Under The Dome Unit Production Manager Dale Williams; IATSE Local 491 Business Manager Jason Rosin; and UNCSA School of Film Dean Susan Ruskin.
